7.10 (gutsy) is a bag of worms!

I've been using v7.04 (fiesty) successfully for several months, but I tried a fresh install of 7.10 on a new computer, and what a mess that turned out to be. I got it installed OK, but the first time I let Adept update the system, the kernel update failed miserably, and corrupted the OS so bad it would not even reboot. I tried reinstalling it twice more, and then gave up and installed v7.04, which so far is clean and stable. It looks like there are still quite a few bugs in v7.10....

I won't fight very hard for Gutsy, but ....

Are you comparing Feisty installed on hardware platform "A" to Gutsy installed on hardware platform "B", and drawing some conclusion about Gutsy, in relation to Feisty?

"Fresh installs of Gutsy" from the LiveCD require, after installation, and before allowing Adept to fetch any updates, to have the repositories in Adept Manager activated and the cdrom repository deactivated and/or removed:

      For Gutsy Installations:

Open Adept Manager (K Menu | System | Adept Manger) and click on Adept | Manage Repositories. On the first tab, check all items (you don't need the last item checked unless you intend to download source files for compiling). On the Third-Party Software tab uncheck/delete the cdrom repository entry. Close the window. If Adept doesn't automatically fetch updates, click on Fetch Updates. You will now have access to the thousands of available packages. If you still have problems, open a console and type:
      Code:
      sudo dpkg --configure -a
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
