Re: can't boot Kubuntu live cd
The quick answer is try rewriting at a slower speed (4x).
Did you burn the iso or just do a data cd?
I know this seems stupid but it happens from time to time.HP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)

Re: can't boot Kubuntu live cd
Is 10x the lowest speed? For some reason *ubuntu iso's don't like "fast" burning on some manufacturers media (like sony), don't ask me why I don't know.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Edit:
I just did a google. There are a few posts with your issue but none with a live cd
Have you tried using the alternate cd for installing? Or do you want to test the live cd first?
Edit:
I found this, I don't know if it is relevant but have a look. If it is you can always post a comment there and see if it helps you:

Re: can't boot Kubuntu live cd
You might try a different burning software. There are a ton of free one's out there. I did a quick google search and found this one http://cdburnerxp.se/ I have never used it but it "might" let you burn at a slower speed.
Good luck,
James
