    after linuxmce install on first boot - display problem

    Hi guys!

    I successfully installed Kubuntu 7.10, after that I installed LinuxMCE. Everything went OK, but after first boot after that, there seems to be some problem with display settings. Unfortunately i cannot edit anything, couse the display is totally "out", do not know why...

    How to solve that

    Which system did you try to boot into? Kubuntu or the other one?

      The base system is Kubuntu, The LinuxMCE is Addon..

      Also tried Safe Start, not worked... Some error, cannot recall...

        Try reboot into the kubuntu recovery mode and type startx at the prompt

        Aslo write down the last few lines and errors if any.

        Could you also post your specs? Machine prossesor, ram, video card, etc?

        That makes it easier to find solutions and help

          If you installed Kubuntu first and then installed the other one afterwards, GRUB would automatically attempt to boot into the other one. With the bootloader the rule of thumb is: last one gets the biscuit

          That is why I am asking. To make sure, could you just post what the line says that you are pressing enter on in order to boot?

          Also please give the info Fintan requested - cheers.

            I take it mce linux was installed as an add on as desribed on their page:

              I had a look at your links and hope that this little thing
              Warning: The DVD quick installation will wipe the whole disk of the machine, all previous data will be permanently lost!
              from here http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Version_0710_Beta4 won't get in the way.

                Machine:
                P4 - 2,4GHZ
                768 MB Ram
                some Shuttle MV43V/N Motherboard
                integrated video card (i think Savage S3 or something...)

                Hmmmm, i put "startx" command, the next moment it starts X, but also some strange resolution, so my monitor cannot show...

                  In Grub, all the right things are present and selected - in my case Ubuntu 7.10, kernel 2.6.22-14-generic

                  Must be this video card resolution issue...
                  My /etc/x11/xorg.conf sys the right monitor- Iiyama Vision master pro 400... -- i set this up earlier, with only kubuntu "onboard"...

                  Add.info: this linuxmce setup should start at first boot after install - so maybe that could be some issue?!?!

                    Hi guys (and girls )...

                    Sorry for inconvenience... I've mess it up... Must have done something in Display setup before restart...

                    Now i "cleaned" the Monitor and Screen Sections off that stuff, put standard in, and now it works!!!
