    Kubuntu over Ubuntu

    Hi,
I had the Ubuntu (Gutsy) installed on my XP notebook. I wanted to try Kubuntu (the Gutsy) and did the installation thru the terminal using 'get-apt kubuntu-install' command.
( it fetched about 180 MB of Kubuntu)
I am amazed by the Kubuntu (off course the KDE stuff). Now I want to completely get rid off the Ubuntu (Gnome) and use Kubuntu only. Is there anyway only to get started with Kubuntu ? I have to start Kubuntu via the terminal by typing >startkde at the prompt and the panels of the Gnome stay around the kde desktop. I have however configured the log in screen to kde only.
    Appreciate your help.

    Re: Kubuntu over Ubuntu

    Welcome to the K side.

Just put the following into the command line:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get remove alacarte app-install-data-commercial ...
    (from psychocats)

Note: I have removed most of the command from the above as it is a single huge line and messes up the forum formatting making the thread pretty much unreadable. Just follow the link to get the full command. It removes all of the packages that are in ubuntu but not kubuntu.

      Great !
      Thanks.
Those guys did the job easy by listing all those pckdges to be removed. I was trying to identify each of the files inside the Ubuntu and thought of removing the files one-by-one.This command made my life simple.
      Thanks once again.
