Gutsy will not let me boot from cd

    I installed Kubuntu 7.10 on a Compaq Presario laptop - R3000.

But, it doesn't detect my internal wireless nor my LinkSys PCMCIA card. I have no sound.

It seems these are problems many people have with this distribution, so I decided to forgo the KDE and instead go with Ubuntu 7.10

But, KDE4 will not let me boot from the CD! Instead it boots back into Kubuntu. I really don't have time to deal with issues right now. Can someone explain why it is behaving this way and what I can do about it?

    Nevermind

I changed the entry in fstab from noauto to auto. I don't know if that was actually the solution, but I was able to boot from the cd after that.

Ubuntu 7.10 does recognize my wireless, gives me sound and lets me access the external backup drive.

    I'm happy.

    Thanks.
