When i try to install 7.10 via alternate cd (checksum ok), I come to the menu and select install.
After that, I get complains of "Bios bug #81", some other stuff I don't remember (approx. two more issues), and that the usb port doesn't behave accordingly, but the installation moves on and shows a corrupted screen.
The screen is virtually divided into two parts, as if it has "rolled 180 degrees", and some information is not showing (as if the one part has been slightly put over the other or something). For example: The Subject line of this topic would show up as:
not showing Screen divided
This is quite awkward as relevant information is lacking. Of course I can hope for the best and press what buttonns seem reasonable, but I would rather not when it comes to partitioning, especielly as I want to make Kubuntu dual boot with my already installed Vista for a while.
The same happens with 6.06.
I have tried the other (whatsitcalled) cd, but that one just makes the screen flicker after the "Bios bug" and the system hangs.
My system:
Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pro 3515
Intel Core Duo
Display adapter: Via Chrome9 HC IGP WDDM (integrated, I suspect. Never been much of a graphics guy...)
If Ubuntu isn't compatible with my Amilo, does anyone know some linux, that is (and that is compatible with me, a newbie )?
