Kubuntu on VIA EPIA m9000

Does anyone have any advice or experience installing kubuntu on the VIA EPIA M9000.
The LiveCD works fine on another computer, but on this one it boots and goes to a text based login.

If the problem is related to the amount of ram the machine has (256MB), is it possible to install the livecd from the command line?

I believe your amount of RAM is the problem; you can't install via CLI (Command Line Interface) using the Live CD, but that's exactly what the Alternate CD is designed for (that and helping you fix your system).
