I get the Error:
Kernel panic – not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
This is the first time I've ever had a visual error. Every other distribution I've tried just gives me a black screen after loading the Kernel.
I'm currently running an AMD Athalon 64 FX 62 processor, Asus Crosshair motherboard with 2 gigs of Corsair XMS2 low latency ram Cass timings of 4-4-12, and a Western Digital RaptorX 150 gig SATA drive.
I'm trying to dual boot the system with Windows Vista ultimate edition previously installed.
I'm rather new to Linux, and do know much about it other then what I've been reading in a Linux text book I've purchased. It came with Fedora Core version 4 which also wouldn't load as well.
I've tried other distributions with LiveCD's and none of them have worked either. (PCLinux, Suse 10 32/64bit editions)
I'm beginning to wonder if it just doesn't recognize the the chipset of the MOBO.
Any kind of help would be appreciated or a distribution that might work with my machines configuration.
Thanks,
Rock.
