    Kubuntu on older notebook

    Greetings,
I was given an Acer Travelmate 529ATXV (I think its the model). It has
128MB Ram and is currently running Win98 on it.

I want to install Kubuntu on it. I downloaded the alternate due to the limited ram on this box. It boots (giving IRQ15 errors) then lets me choose text install. It barfs at identifying the CDROM drive (which I booted the install disk from) with unkown common cd drive. I don't have a clue which brand the cdrom drive is, so I guess /dev/cdrom. It starts doing something but after two hours and the progress indicator moved just one hair, I figured something was wrong.

How do I install on this older hardware ?

thanks in advance, and no I didn't see a mobile forum area.

    I would suggest xubuntu:
    http://www.xubuntu.org/

it is made for older ram poor systems.
HP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)
    4 GB Ram
    Kubuntu 18.10

Abd when there are odd install problems - be sure to do the proper memory check: The one on the CD. It will take some time, but then you know. (Memcheck from BIOS is just a check that it's there and responding - not real hard work.
