    Upgraded, Now stuck at boot

I just did an upgrade through adept. When done, I did a reboot.
Now the system stops at a prompt:
    Busybox v1.1.3 (Debain............
    (initramfs)

Then a blinking cursor waiting for a command.

I should also mention when I type "Exit", it says
    "Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init"

What happened and how do I fix it? I'm stuck.
I'd hate to have to reinstall.
    Thanks
    Wally

New to me. But looking for better clues here . . .
What came before the Busybox message?
Does Control+C or Control+D (with Enter) get past it?
Looks like you also installed new hardware (HDD)?

    Google? "Busybox v1.1.3 (Debain"

Yeah, have a look at a google.
      Looks like it's a well-known issue, maybe a bug.
"Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init" -- that suggests something might be off in fstab, so check /etc/fstab.
Or, try to boot another kernel (the previous one).
I don't have an answer, but if no one here has one (or experience with it), there's tons from google.
You are getting some error plus not getting a regular tty terminal.

I did search google, but there seems to be different issues than mine. I'm not sure how to boot into a different kernel. Grub gives me two options , Generic, and recovery mode. Neither work.

Looks like you have just the one kernel. So, back to my first Reply, what messages do you get before the Busybox prompt? and can you get past them with Ctrl+D? The prompt doesn't mean much; it's just telling you of a problem and giving you a chance to intervene (but you are not getting a regular terminal), but the error may be in the text preceding Busybox.

No messages. Just the grub menu, Ctrl+D does nothing.
I used a live cd, the fstab looks okay.
I'll just have to reinstall from this point.
I need my laptop back up and running.
            Thanks,
