    Re: Adept help

sorry to so useless, but how do i go about creating a new source.list? I punched in the code you gave me and it just said,
    bash: /etc/apt/sources.list: Permission denied
so i sudo'd it thinking it needed root, and got'
    sudo: etc/apt/sources.list: command not found

    eek! :-X

          Re: Adept help

'cos we don't know what we're doing - we've been looking at the contents of your sources.list file which, however, does not seem at fault here.

Instead we should be looking at your network setup. Are you on wired or wlan? Are you posting from your Kubuntu system, can you surf? You behind a rooter, a firewall? Proxy?

          'nuff questions for now...

            Re: Adept help

on wired meaning ethernet connection to the internet through an adsl modem, then yes, wlan meaning wireless? then no!
I'm posting from my kubuntu install no problems, i'm not going through a proxy, no firewall besides if the modem has one, and rooter(router?)then no.

Thanks so much for the help so far, hopefully I can give you some satisfaction by finally solving it with your help! :P

              Re: Adept help

So a straight forward "plug your computer into your modem and surf" kind of thing...

Hey, just looking at your continued problems - you did not change your fstab at all > Whatever you did, you did not follow the steps correctly and adjust your fstab. > > Go do it now

                    Re: Adept help

i did that already. I dont think thats the problem. The only problem i'm having is that the connection to the repository servers keeps timing out. I can see all the updates available and all the different universe/multiverse/etc programs available, i just cant download them because they keep timing out when connecting to the repositories, the reason i think this is, is because for all the repository IP addresses, they come up as 1.0.0.0 which seems very wrong. If anyone knows a way to change that i think it will fix this problem.

                      Re: Adept help

                      *bump*
Anyone?! I still have the same problem. If it wasn't clear before. My adpet manager, even my adept notifier recognises all the packages and updates available from when i have updated my repository lists before, but i cannot download and install any upgrades/updates/packages. Everytime i try it just times out and adept or adept updater crashes.
Any ideas at all would be helpful because this is my last port of call, i've tried re-installing 7.10 several times and even tried installing 6.06LTS several times but i still have the same problem again and again...

                        Re: Adept help

from the info you posted you did not follow the instructions in post #14 and until you have done so there is very little point in suggesting anything else I'm afraid
