Re: Who's gonna be an early KDE4 adopter?

I burn at the lowest setting - 16X for me and it has always worked well.

Maybe there was a glitch in your down load?

Tested this latest HH Alpha on my laptop. Man that is sweet!! The only other thing I found broken was the Monitor and Display settings couldn't run due to a missing Python file. Over all I'm very impressed. The laptop also seems to run quicker as well. Can't wait for the final release with KDE4. I hope KDE4 will fall along similar lines.

@Moon, did you install HH Alpha 4 from scratch, or upgrade from Alpha 3? Did you install KDE4 on it? I'm striking out putting KDE4 on my HH Alpha 4 -- dunno if it's something I've missed, or just the developmental state of things.

No, right now I've been using the Live CD which probably accounts for some of the broken items. I actually might try it in VirtualBox first. To "practice" the install procedure as I will be re-installing Kubuntu after many, many Dist-Upgades. It's time, and I will be going all KDE4. I'll let you know what happens inside VirtualBox.

Reading these replies...I think I'll try out the Live-CD. Sounds like it has a lot of potential.

Well, the install went very well. Speedy for being run virtually (my system is good on resources but is 4 years old - P IV - HT). Anyway those items I mentioned are still broke after install. "Library Files for libpython2.5.so not found in paths" is the error I get in Monitor & Display and a few other System Settings options. System Menu in the task bar is still 50% broke. All in all, everything else runs great! Now. This is KDE3.5.8. How does one update HH to all KDE4, no KDE3.5.8 at all.

By the way, this was posted in HH through VirtualBox.

I'm back to Gutsy. Hardy just wouldn't work for me no matter what I did.

So I'll put KDE4.0.1 on and see how it plays with Gutsy now.
