KDE 4 and Kubuntu: Which ISO version?

I want to make a clean installation of Kubuntu in order to use KDE 4. According to Kubuntu's website, I seem to have two choices: use the regular version of Kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon and then update packages, or download a live CD that comes with KDE 4. I'd prefer to download the ISO that comes with KDE 4, but the website says that this version is meant to test the system without installing packages. Would I be able to install the packages anyway and use it as my regular desktop? In what sense is this an "unsupported remaster"? Would I be better off with the regular Gutsy Gibbon? Notice that I would like a stable system, so Hardy is out of question right now.

    Thanks,
    Tiago

Take gutsy and follow these instructions:
    http://kubuntu.org/announcements/kde-4.0.php
afterwards search for kde4 in your adept/ synaptic and install the apps you wish.
Good Luck and welcome to the party

Just a clarification please. In order to keep system size down is it better to use the KDE4 LiveCD and add the apps I want, or Use Gutsy and add KDE4 then purge the older KDE (and how would I do that part w/o breaking everything)?

I would not purge kde3, especially not from gutsy.
KDE4 is nice but not and deffinately usable but I don't think it will be perfect? until kde4.1

If you have the space then get both and play. That is what linux is good at. KDE4 is so new it will take some time to be kde 3.5 replaceable.

        Good Luck

Re: KDE 4 and Kubuntu: Which ISO version?

I just made clean KDE installation with live CD (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/releases/gutsy/kde4/). There is Install widget in the live CD's desktop. It will install Kubuntu Gutsy with KDE4 desktop.

          Notes.
The installer is a bit slow, but it will (eventually) install Kubntu Gutsy with KDE4.

          Note that:
I have separate Kubuntu Gutsy with KDE 3.5
