Kubuntu 7.10 on Vista T-61 Laptop ext USB HDD Can't Boot Vista without USB Drive

    Hi - I need help!

I have installed 7.10 on an External USB Hard Drive on my T61 Laptop. The Kubuntu environment works very well but when I shutdown and detach the USB Drive and try to boot Vista the boot process stops with an Error 25. I can boot Vista only if I have the Linux (USB) drive attached and select the Vista option.

When I installed Kubuntu I had not expected that it would modify the Vista Drive in the process - MY Mistake!!!!! I wanted to be able to boot Vista or Linux independently.

The T61 has the option of rebuilding the entire Vista environment from scratch but has no bootable CD option.

Is there a way of safely (easily and reliably) rebuilding the boot process so that I can boot Vista?

Thanks in advance for any help.
