Help. I looked maybe to quick but I did not see this problem. I am maybe an advanced beginner. I just downloaded kubuntu thru Firefox and when I try to open the download the good old Windows box pops up: Windows can not open this file: pick the web or select from a list. Whenever this happens I am lost and just give up. This seems way to cool to give up on! Can anyone help me out? Thanks, M.

Re: Windows can not open this file
The file "Kubuntu" you downloaded is an .iso
You need to use a cd burning program to burn the iso to disc.
Make sure you open the file in the cd burning program. Don not just transfer the file to cd.Noooooooooobie learning.

Nero is good. There may be a free($) version of it, I'm not sure, but I would think there are free iso burners available for XP. Google. An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way. An artist says a hard thing in a simple way. Charles Bukowski

ImgBurn is what I was using when I still had Windoze installed. Free, and it works!Windows no longer obstructs my view.

Re: Windows can not open this file
I think that you would find a greater enjoyment if you go ahead and download/install ImgBurn and burn your own CD. Is your PC a 32-bit or 64-bit processor? Did you download the LiveCD, Alternate CD, or DVD .iso file? The LiveCD .iso is the only one that allows you to create a LiveCD. A LiveCD allows you to actually 'test' Kubuntu before installing, the other two do not - they are used to perform installations to your PC only.Windows no longer obstructs my view.

I like your thinking, more beer always helps.
Other than that, I barely know what you are talking about as far as what kind of download to do to open this up.
