HELP! can´t boot into kubuntu

downloaded the kubuntu live dvd image. tried to install on desktop pc, however, when selecting try or install kubuntu from the menu, it wont install, so i chose to install in text view. this apparently worked, but when rebooting to go to kubuntu, the computer hangs after about the sixth or seventh line in its boot process starting with the display which then reads ok, but stopping when it wants to access the directory called /etc anybody have any ideas?

A couple of things to start the process:

1. Download a bootable CD, and see if the PC can boot from that.

2. When it first boots, check it!!!! Only let it start after that - it save you a lot of time.

3. If it's OK and boots - you might just go on installing from there

or

4. Check the DVD. If it is not OK, you can try burning at 4x
