    Boot Screen splashy

On the previous version of Kubuntu I was able to see the verbose mode of everything loading by hitting esc at the very start of the boot screen splashy ( I think that is what it is called)

That is no longer working for me in Gibbon.

Is there some way to be able to see that verbose screen during boot on the occasions I want to- but not all the time?

Question #7197 in Ubuntu / how do I remove the splash screen in 7.04

      - You may switch to VT1 or VT6 when you see the splash screen by pressing
      <Ctrl>+<F1> or <Ctrl>+<F6>
So you will see a lot of startup messages 'just in time'

      Here <ALT> + <F1> shows startup messages.

        Worked great!
Now any idea how to get the messages to fit on my monitor?
