Kubuntu 7.10 will not install on my Compaq

    Kubuntu 7.10 will not install on my Compaq

    After removing windows 2000 on my Compaq Presario 5461 (Can't find specs at the moment) I installed Kubuntu 7.10 . The machine has a 500 mhz AMD processor and 512 GB of RAM. The Disk seems to work fine and the install appears to go well, however after we get to the part where the operating system boots and it starts installing, when it gets to the part known as KDSetup and then a prompt appears a few seconds later saying:

    |_____________________________________________|

    Whenever I press OK it restarts the machine and the install process. Is this an error on the disk or what, any suggestions?

    Just quickly what speed did you burn the livecd at? Just that it often has problems if burned at anything over 4x

      The first thing to do is boot from CD, and do the CD integrity oan memory tests. (In that order, the memory test take a loooong time, and can find issues bootup mem-test ignores.

        Hmm I tink that helped, I found 43 eroors on the disk, I have never had a problem burning ISOs before. I will give that a try.
