    GRUB Cannot mount selected partition

I installed kubuntu again, i rebooted after installation, selected kubuntu in grub, i get error 17, cannot mount selected partition.
    I edited the partition it should load i tried (1,0) - (1,9)
the default it was on was (1,7) and that is supposed to be correct.

Re: GRUB Cannot mount selected partition

Well, we don't have your menu.lst to see, at: /boot/grub/menu.lst -- just the last part showing the OSs starting with the "title" lines.

My guess is that you are trying to boot Kubuntu but you are accidentally referencing Windows.

GRUB notation is (hdx,y), where the hard drive is x, the partition is y, BUT COUNTING STARTS at ZERO.

So, the first hard drive is hd0, the second hard drive is hd1, etc.
The first partition is partition 0, the second partition is 1, etc.

In menu.lst double-check your device references like this.

Important: You must edit menu.lst as root! Then, when done, File > Save and File > Quit.
