Fixed the sound issue, such a relief!

here's a link to anybody who's having trouble getting sound to work on Dell vostro 1500 or if the speakers don't cut off when the headphones are plugged in

For some reason, i'm not able to move any file to the 86 gig partition (etx3)that i made to use it for media..when i right click on it, it says that i have permission to read and write it, why won't it let me do just that then?

Are you right-clicking the file icon, or the 86GB partition icon? I'll bet only root has permissions on the one that you didn't check.

ah i think i know what you mean. I can edit it if i right-click on the media from root and actions>open as root. I don't mind this method since there's an increased security to the files.

Is there any other downside to this though?
