Live CD boots, no disk recognized in install

    Hi,

After a day of problems trying to get Kubuntu to start up, it finally started! Unfortunately, I'm having the same problem I had previously had with Ubuntu. When I click Install on the Live CD, and come to the screen "Prepare Partitions", there is no disk recognized. The weird thing is that if I go into System Settings, Advanced, Disks and Filesystems, the disk is there: "Disk SAMSUNG SP1604N". There is nothing under Mount Point, Type, Device or Enabled though. What should I do?

First, are you upgrading from a previously installed version of *ubuntu (my guess, is no)?
Second, if 'no' to the above, what operating system is installed on the system HD (I'm guessing Windoze Vista)?

I had XP on it, but the partition was deleted. The hard drive was completely formated and has one 160 GB NTFS partition on it. I had tried formating it as one large ext3 partition, but it didn't recognize that either.

make sure the Sata in the Bios is set to IDE mode (Not raid) and is pluged into the Black connector (norm black), if your mobo has raid make sure the hdd is not pluged into it (norm Red connector)
