harddisk hda & hdb turns to sda & sdb ?

I did a clean install of 7.10. Now my hard disks are refered to as sda1,sda2,... and sdb1, sdb2 whereas previously I use fiesty, they were refered to as hda1, hda2,... and hdb1, hdb2.

Im not able to see any problem in running 7.10 at the moment. Should I be concerned?

    No.

The nomenclature for hard drives (IDE/PATA, SATA, SCSI) has been changed to allow them all to be "sd_" devices.

THANKS for the quick reply dibl...

      Aaah... a relief.
I have always thought that the sd... are for scsii.
      My hard disks are IDE.

Thanks again for the quick reply and explaining.

So Qqmike, when are you going to publish your own book? I mean, you constantly amaze me (and others I'm sure) at the wealth of information you seem to have amassed.

            Oh . . . yes . . . perceptions and smoke.

            Well, let's see. Say 13 chapters plus five appendices . . .
I'll take the introduction, the dual booting chapter (an intermediate version), and maybe one appendix. Now if you guys will pitch in the rest--the Linux part--we'll be in business.
Oops. Free as in beer. Better offer the book for free. On a web site.
We can sell advertising space on the website and make a little money.
Then donate a lot of the money to Projects, like GParted, Super Grub, K3b, and I'm sure you guys have favorites.
Maybe sell some used CDs, some Chinese turquoise, antique jail house keys, enchilada recipes, what else can you guys cough up . . .? Yeah, that's it, we'll link to eBay and . . .

            Not a bad idea Snowhog . . .

We get to identify which 12 months.

OK, crew, the sky's the limit.
                  We're going places with this.
And Snowhog -- the April thing --
                  Good idea!
                  No work in April.
Think we can get the other regulars on-board here with us?

eh, November's my birthday -- can't work that month. And May is my wife's, and I have to shop for her, so May is out. And of course Christmas is in December -- too busy to work, so December is definitely out.
