    Gutsy won't install, blank screen

I've got a problem trying to install Gutsy. The machine is clean, no other installs.

I've got an AMD64-X2 with 2 GB of memory on an A8N-SLI with an Asus made nVidia based 8800 GTS video card.

I've downloaded the image from the Tiscali mirror, burned it to cd (http://ftp.tiscali.nl/ubuntu-release...ktop-amd64.iso)

Booted the machine and ran from cd. It goes into the splash menu fine, then I choose Kubuntu install or Kubuntu safe install, I get a message the kernel is live, and then a blank screen. My keyboard doesn't respond anymore for about a second. Then the numlock light is switch off and on again. The CD spins down and the harddisk spins down after a while as well. I can't go to a prompt, the system is unresponsive accept to Ctrl-Alt-Del.

I've checked the hardware best I could, and it all seems fine. I can pull of a windows install on the machine, and memtests, HD-tests and all come back fine.

    What could this be?

Edit; this seems to be the same problem, with a different config, didn't notice that in the search before:

Choose the Check CD for defects option, let that run, and see what it gives you; if you don't need a GUI, you may just wish to install using the Alternate CD.

      Okay, I'll try that.

Burning a new copy now as well, just to be sure.
