    KDE broken after update

I can't start my kde after an upgrade to gutsy from feisty.
When i log in from kdm, it hangs with no activity, just the background... if i give "startkde" from failsafe session kde starts but after loading all the stuff, i got back the kdm login mask...
    I'm on a dell laptop amd64.
What can i try to do?
    thanks,
    Marco

Can you boot with recovery mode and the type startx at the prompt? what do you get? Errors, etc?

thanks for the answer, i found the solution browsing this forum, it's a problem about xgl starting by default, i did `apt-get remove xserver-xgl` and now it's all fine...
