Feisty was buggy for me--will Gutsy be any better?

Long story short, after 3 months of working just fine, Feisty majorly screwed up my Inspiron E1705. Assuming I can get the thing fixed, would you recommend moving on to Gutsy? How has the whole experience been for you all compared to Feisty? Back when I was using Feisty, the only problem (other than totally ruining my computer) was that my battery life would rarely exceed 5 minutes on a full charge, so hopefully Gutsy won't have this.

Apologies for posting a semi-dumb question in such little detail, but computer-ing is kind of an inconvenience for me now that I have to use my dorm's computer lab everytime I want to do something...

What did Feisty do to your laptop?

I opened a terminal one day and the thing froze...I then removed the battery to start up the computer again. When the thing began booting, I noticed all sorts of weird symbols that had been superimposed on the display. The login screen showed up as a tye-dye-colored blob, so I couldn't really do anything after that. The exact same thing happens everytime I turn my compute r on.

        :P

So does your computer boot at all, or is the whole thing fried?
