Hard Disk Light Won't Turn Off

I just upgraded to Kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon on my Sony VGN-FJ290P laptop. I'm very pleased will the disto however the light on the hard disk stays on all the time. The system has been up for nearly 24 hours and the light is still on. Any ideas on where I should start?

See if you've got a process that's thrashing the system. Hit <CTRL>-<Esc> and sort the processes you see by User% and System% (click 'User%'). Is there anything suspicious there taking a lot of time?

Thanks for the info. I think I am experiencing something different. My hard disk light is constant...it doesn't flash on/off and I can't hear the drive spinning constantly.

ksysguardd is using from .50 to 6.00 User % depending on what I am doing...System% is from 0.0 to 1.00
