    Can you update from CD?

I have tried to update my Feisty but I guess due to everyone trying to download it I have been getting error with Update Manager having troubles connecting to certain sites. Can I download the CD and update from it and if so how do you do it? Thanks for the help.

I don't think you can "update" from the CD -- you can "install" from the CD. Is your data on a separate "/home" partition, or is it all on the same partition with the rest of Kubuntu?

Hopefully you won't lose important data -- no need to update before you've got a good backup.

The updater worked OK for me, but it appears that other folks have had trouble with it. I personally have more confidence in a clean new installation that in the updater, anyway. :P

As a matter of data security I have always (7years) had a separate data partition and a separate home partition. OS's of any color crash, even Linux (especially when you play with it too much )

This also makes installing new versions easy

As for updating/grading from the alternate cd I think this is possible from the alternate cd:

Directions for the alt cd are at the bottom.

          Just my 2 cents worth.
