Either it borks the setup (no big desktop and wrong resolution) or with options that work well in Gentoo or Arch on the same machine it hangs totally! I have setup X many times with Gentoo and Arch and had only small problems setting up dualhead, in (K)Ubuntu this has always been a pain (I like everything else, though 
). I have installed Xfce4 to test and if I disable KDM (want to use Qingy anyway, best solution for laptop atm) andd start it through "startxfce4" dual displays come up as wanted, so it definetely seems that KDE is the culprit.
