Stupid question on architecture - Core 2 Duo

I have a Core 2 Duo machine which is x86_64. Do I want the i386 distro or the 64 bit distro? From the descriptions, it sounds like the 64 bit is AMD specific. i386 should be generic enough to work fine, but does it make a difference if I can use 64 bit??

The 64 bit version will work for Core 2 Duo. The choice on which to go with is yours. I am just upgrading to Gutsy, so I don't know how it will do, but I chose i386 in Feisty, because it had better support in software (Flash, etc.). To get them in 64 bit was too much work for me. In the end, either should work fine.
