    Gutsy Upgrade Instructions Wrong

Well, at least for me they are.

The instructions say to open Adept Manager, click on Manage Repositories, and get this dialog box:

    http://kubuntu.org/~jriddell/kubuntu.../snapshot2.png

Nope - not there. Instead, I get a list of repositories. I have attached a window capture. The "Full Upgrade" button is grayed out, and I see no way to follow steps 2 - 5 in the upgrade instructions:

    Any help would be appreciated.

What version are you trying to upgrade from?? The upgrade instructions you are following are for Feisty Kubuntu to Gutsy, yes?

Then you should be able to do as the instructions say. When you have Adept Manager open and you click on Adept | Manage Repositories and click on the Updates tab you don't see the following:

That is correct - I do not see the dialog box you attached. Instead, I see the list of repositories in the window capture that I attached in this thread's root comment.

I suppose one workaround might be if someone would post the URLs for the pre-release and recommended updates repositories and I could just add them in manually. However, I'm curious as to why adept manager isn't behaving as expected. It might have been helpful if there were documentation for adept-manager.

That's very intriguing, as the snapshot you posted appears to be what Adept Manager running under Edgy (6.10) would show.

              Re: Gutsy Upgrade Instructions Wrong

Could I have borked adept's configuration somehow? I recall that I manually added medibuntu and beryl repositories shortly after I installed Feisty (clean install - never installed Edgy). I tried replacing sources.list with an unmodified version, but that didn't help

To move forward, I think I just need someone to post their sources.list file with recommended and pre-release repositories added in.

              Thanks.

I have seem a similar behavior in machines upgraded from older versions to feisty.

Maybe if adept can't fully understand the sources.lst file, it defaults to the old interface?.

It's also possible you have missed the necessary package when moving from edgy to feisty (possible if 'kubuntu-desktop' was not installed)

Check that package 'software-properties-kde' is installed.

Feisty was my first kubuntu distro. Prior to that I was running SuSE 10.1 (on a different hard drive) , until they sold out to Satan.

That little cross-licensing deal Novell signed with Microsoft.

Pardon me while I add some keywords and a summary here. This thread may be useful for a few people over the next 48 hours

gutsy feisty Kubuntu RC upgrade dialog menu missing manage repositories recommended pre-release.

                          Problem:

On step 2 of the Kubuntu GutsyUpgrade instructions, clicking on Manage Repositories does NOT open a dialog box. Instead, you see a listing of repositories in the same window.

                          Solution:

Make sure that the package 'software-properties-kde' is installed.

As an aside, I've seen instructions for installing third party packages under Feisty that show the repository window instead of a dialog box, so I don't think this is an isolated incident.

Thank you everyone for your patience, courtesy and help.
