    Best of luck

I like Kubuntu a lot. For some reason, I never could grow to like Gnome, so it's Kubuntu for me. Eventually, I'll shell out for a full coppy of VMWare so that I can run my XP from inside Kubuntu, to accommodate my must-have Dragon Naturally Speaking, for which there is no FLOSS alternative. Thanks to your advice, I'll wait until Gibbon's final release, and try it from the live CD for a while first.

Unless they stop offering the free VMWare Player, you don't need to shell out to run Win XP and its applications. The only issue is, it's not yet working correctly in the Gutsy repos, so I'm still only able to run it in Feisty. But, give it a month to sort out, and it should be possible to install the free VMWare Player, then you'll need a .vmx "machine" (I know where to get one) and of course a legal Win XP CD with a key, and you're good to go.

That's great news! Will the OEM CD that came with my box be legal enough? If I could have a single boot Linux system with my Windows app.s available through VM, I'd be almost as happy as I will be when Arsenal wins the treble this season.

AFAIK, if you've got a legit Win XP CD with the serial number ("key") that goes with it, you're golden. Good luck to them Arsenal!

Thanks. The serial number is stuck on the side of my PC case, so that's nice to know.
