KPackage or GDebi need to be part of Kubuntu's initial installation

Apt is fantastic, but you are going to have users that need to install some deb packages. I seriously recommend adding kpackage to the base installation, or gdebi if kpackage isn't stable enough yet.

Aside from iffy wacom support (which I guess Ubuntu Studio covers) that's just one of the small things that'd help out Kubuntu some.

Thank you for your time. =3

I thought it was. Right click on a .deb and you should get the option to install.

gdebi-kde is installed by default on Gutsy, you should be able to right-click on a deb file and open with gdebi.

If upgraded from feisty without 'kubuntu-desktop' package installed, gdebi-kde is not installed and you need to manually install it, but on fresh installations and upgrades with kubuntu-desktop it is installed.

heck, in Gutsy, just double-click on the .deb file, and away you go....
