I'm on a 500MHZ P2 computer and during the text-mode alternate install of Kubuntu 7.10 there was no driver available for my hard drive. 7.04 no problems at all but it seems with this version upgrade some legacy drivers have been pullled from the installation.
Also, right in the beginning when the lack of ACPI info is displayed there were a few more errors displayed which is something that 7.04 install of Ubuntu and Kubuntu didn't fuss about.
I've been installing different distros on this machine for the past 5 days. It's been pretty exhausting but now I'm pleased to have installed Kubuntu. It's quite a noticeable difference as far as responsiveness compared to Ubuntu, Xandros, and a couple others I cant even think of the names off the top of my head right now.
Just wanted to warn anyone thinking of installing 7.10 on an old computer you might want to play it safe and install 7.04 or older version then upgrade from there to 7.10.
So far, Im loving how much faster Kubuntu is than Ubuntu on this old computer.
