SigmaTel on Gutsy

Hello,
My sigmatel 92xx onboard sound card works ok on Feisty but it does not work at all on Gutsy. I don't see sigmatel listed on Alsa matrix. Is there anything I can do? Why does the same card work on one version and not the other? (They are only released six months apart! The are the same distro!!!!!!!!!!)

Please help.

All the links and posts talk about Alsa this and Alsa that. But I don't see SigmaTel listed on Alsa matrix. Am I missing something in these posts?

The chip model is often referred to as a "STAC 92xx", but it is a SigmaTel product.

I am sorry I don't understand. Neither the company SigmaTel nor the chipset STAC 92xx is is listed on http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Main. And all these posts seem to be discussing Alsa drivers. Did I miss something? Is there an Alsa driver for SigmaTel STAC 92xx? Or is there a way to install some other driver?

Please tell me if there is a way to make the sound work. If there isn't a way, please spell it out for me. I have no way of knowing. If someone tells me that there isn't a way, I will be able to move on to a different distro without regrets.
I still don't understand why the card is supported in 7.04 and not in 7.10. What kind of an upgrade is that?
