    External Harddrive question pt2

Everything from my first post is still working. Linux is able to mount it just fine. But when I try to use the safely remove feature in Kubuntu I get the following error:

Unmounting failed due to the following error:
Device to unmount is not in /media/.hal-mstab so it is not mounted to HAL.

    PLEASE HELP!

Did you try this on your Desktop? If so, then:
First, try doing it in Konqueror > Storage Media: find its icon, right-click, Safely Remove.
(Usually works for me; there are probably some more technical things someone will suggest here as well.) Could also unmount it manually at a command prompt.

Did you previously set this drive up to be automatically mounted in /etc/fstab? If so, you probably need to undo that.

When I first started having the mount issue I went into the FSTAB file and told it to always force mount the drive.

Do I need to undo that and set it back to what it was by default?

I think the correct answer is "YES". No guarantees ...
