Root file question for the Kubuntu gurus.

Just installed Kubuntu in a spare PC that I will not buy windows for. Tired of supporting Microsoft.
After I loaded Kubuntu and looking into the system/hardware, I noticed there is a root file called Lost + Found, I am not able to look in the file, it will not open as the other files do. Any idea what the file contains and what it is for?
    Thanks.

Found the reply under goole, Linux file system, as follows:

/lost+found - Linux should always go through a proper shutdown. Sometimes
your system might crash or a power failure might take the machine down.
Either way, at the next boot, a lengthy filesystem check using fsck will
be done. Fsck will go through the system and try to recover any corrupt
files that it finds. The result of this recovery operation will be placed
in this directory. The files recovered are not likely to be complete or
make much sense but there always is a chance that something worthwhile is
    recovered.

My power was turned off and now I understand what the os does and what goes into the Lost and found. Thanks.

Having nothing in lost+found is a good thing.
