[HELP!] Audio on Kubuntu 7.10

Hi looked everywhere to find something in the Internet to make my audio laptop working.
I have a vaio x505vp with this hardware:

00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) SMBus Controller (rev 03)
00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 03)

I can't hear any sound...
Can someone help me?

First thing I would do is open up kmix and check the settings.

The settings appears all ok, but no sound

I tried to do what the guide sais, but I can't understand something!

kubuntu finds the alsa but says me that it's not configured, but everything i try to modify or set doesn't work!!!

There's something new, i've installed kubuntu 8.04 alpha and audio work, BUT, very very low volume!!
When i use hotkeys to modify the volume nothing changes, any idea?
In kmix all the values are @ max volume!

There's an "alsamixergui" package that might let you play with the alsa volume settings more than kmixer.

Mehhh, I just searched Ubuntu Forum extensively, and turned up nothing better than this:

for that Vaio.

However, here's what I found for the AC'97 chip:

Maybe there's some help in there -- looks like it helped for some folks.

You have to go to preferences and increase the volume...standard is 499, you increase there!
