extended Desktop not working in kubuntu

hi.....i tried to use my laptop as an extended desktop by connect to an LG monitor.
I went to system settings Monitor /Display and changed the display so that i can use 2 monitors.
Primary : my laptop LCD display
    Secondary : LG Monitor.

After making the changes it asked me to restart the X-server and i restarted computer.

    But during boot i got an error /sys/devices/sytem/cpu/cpuo //cpu freq/scaling_governor : Directory non-exist
I am not able to get the k-desktop screen. But my system starts in Safe/recovery mode.Whener i try to run any K-desktop program i am not able to run it.It says X Server not running.

Can any one help me how to sort out this.

    Thanks

    Ravi

can you paste us the contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

You can view that file in safe mode:

    pico /var/log/Xorg.0.log
