Panasonic Laptop Standby/Hibernation troubles

Hi,

I'm having troubles getting my laptop (Panasonic "Let's Note" laptop, I think outside of Japan that's known as a "Toughbook") running again after putting it into Standy/Hibernation mode.

The laptop starts up fine, but the screen remains black.
Is there any way to fix this?

Sorry to bring this up again, but I'd really like to get my standby/hibernation problem fixed.

The hibernation mode is acting particularly strange: apparently, the computer doesn't really enter hibernation mode (the screen turns black, but there is a blinking terminal-style cursor in the upper left corner), and it seems impossible to get the system running again.

Would it help if I posted more details? What would be useful?

I've tested Ubuntu on my system, and there Standby/Hibernation works fine, so I guess my problem has something to do with KDE.

Could someone tell me what kind of processes control Standby/Hibernation? Perhaps that brings be closer to a solution ...

I installed OpenSuse10.3 the other day to see whether it agrees more with my laptop (I would prefer using (K)Ubuntu, but I need to get standby/hibernation running -- it's a bit inconvenient on a laptop not to be able to use it ... )

Unfortunately, standby/hibernation didn't work on OpenSuse either, but at least I got an error log.
Could someone take a look at it and, if possible, tell me what to do?
