Audio I/P not detected properly in KDE4 (SOLVED)

KDE 3 worked fine, but now that I'm running KDE 4 I can not get Audacity to detect my audio I/P properly. IT will only show "ALSAEFAULT" and "ALSOMIX" yet in KDE 3 it detected the actual hardware - MAudio 24/96 Audiophile

It will not record properly because it "jitters" instead of recording smoothly. It's like I'm using a HDD which is too slow. My HDD is more than fast enough though.

    Help?

getting the snd-ice1712 module to load fixed my issue.

What sound system does that work on?

        Audacity is using ALSA

I don't know how this Phenom (spelling?) interacts or works with that. I'm ignorant of the actual workings behind it all.
