    Audio/sound problem

PCI CMi8738 sound card on SiS 630/730 Mother board. Sound Card is detected by the Kubuntu(7.10) OS and the the panel it shows Kmix volume Control which is enable by default. But the problem is no Audio/sound comes out from the speaker. The same speaker and sound card works under Windows OS. I have also update/upgrade the system. I have download the driver "alsa-driver-1.0.15" form the C-media Web side and installed the same, but no fruitfull result comes out. I seek soludtion from the the KDE geek.
    Thanks in advance.

Right-click on the Kmixer icon, choose "Show mixer window" and then make sure that the little red "light" is on for the "front" and "PCM" channels -- if not, it is muted.

If that doesn't help, here a good guide for troubleshooting it:
