Re: 10 button Logitech Trackball "Cordless Optical Trackman" only works as 3 button.

Well, it seems (obvious) that using evdev as the driver isn't supported, or that more information on it's use is required. Many-button mice (more than three) in Linux is problematic at best. There are many posts, from other members, and also on other Linux Forums, documenting this. Some have posted some, if not complete success. But, ...

Unless you relish in the challenge, or you must have the full functionality of your Trackman, I'd be inclined to simply switch to a conventional three-button or wheeled mouse. I'm using a USB optical wheel mouse (two buttons and a wheel) that works fine. The only thing on it not recognized by *ubuntu is the wheel 'click' function. But I don't care about that, so haven't searched for a solution.

Sorry I couldn't help you to a solution.

Okay, so I don't give up either!

      Have you read through:
How-to Scrollwheel Effect on Logitech trackball (Marble Mouse)
Logitech trackball (Marble Mouse) on Breezy

Both are older posts, and on previous release of Ubuntu. But, the first does address a 9 (?) button Logitech Trackball.
