Well, it seems (obvious) that using evdev as the driver isn't supported, or that more information on it's use is required. Many-button mice (more than three) in Linux is problematic at best. Unless you relish in the challenge, or you must have the full functionality of your Trackman, I'd be inclined to simply switch to a conventional three-button or wheeled mouse. I'm using a USB optical wheel mouse (two buttons and a wheel) that works fine. The only thing on it not recognized by *ubuntu is the wheel 'click' function. But I don't care about that, so haven't searched for a solution.
