    AMD Drivers (CPU)

This is a quote from the txt file from amd drivers

"This tar file contains the Linux CPU frequency driver
for AMD Athlon64 (including Athlon 64 FX and X2) /
Opteron / Turion (including X2) / Phenom / and most
Sempron processors. The proper version of the driver for
all AMD processors is included in the latest version
of the kernel and should be used in preference to
the files included here. Only use these files if
you are using an old version of a kernel that does
    not support your processor.

The driver obtains data as to supported frequencies
and voltages for the processor from the BIOS.
    "

now at the bottom of all the updates it says this.

"The powernow-k8.c and powernow-k8.h files should be
    placed in the arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq directory.
The kernel will then need to be rebuilt and the system
rebooted. Builds of the 64-bit arch/x86_64 kernel use
    the same source files.
    "

Anyone help me with understanding this.
    What do I do?
    And how?

    thanks all

    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?
    1. Thread: Please explain how to access old kubuntu forum posts
    2. Thread: Lost Information
