What printer is garanteed to work effortlessly under Gutsy?

I know this has been discussed before, but I have yet to see a printer recommendation made that someone else hasn't had trouble with.

So what printer (mark and model) can one obtain which

- works quickly and easily with Gutsy (after driver installation, if necessary, meaning that the drivers must be readily available and easy to install -- beter yet, out of the box)

- for which cartridges (eventually, generic ones) don't cost the skin of my ...

- preferably for which utilities (ink-level dectector, head alignment, etc.) function properly?

Or am I dreaming? Thanks.

The best knowledge base about linux printing that I know. As most printer work with linux but the cheapest ones, I usually do it the other way. I look for a printer with a reasonable price and them look how well it works on Linux.

HP PSC-1315 All-In-One. Works like a charm. Even scans faster than Windoze.

I have an HP PhotoSmart 8250 and it was configured and running beautifully with ease! I assume the other HP PhotoSmart printers are also easy to set up.

I have a HP All-In-One 2210, and it works fine... over Samba.
Haven't tried anything but printing or photo card reading, though.

I have an HP PSC 2110 and a PSC 2410 both work flawlessly. I was printing and scanning within 5 minutes.

Panasonic KX-P4410 Laser Printer. It also works just fine.

If you use them correctly and depending on how much printing you do, it may be worthwhile to have two. I picked up a used HP LaserJet 6MP off eBay and it prints quality b/w at a small fraction of the cost of an inkjet. We have that, an HP 895Cse and 1210v. All work great, but the laser carries most of the load.

HP is your best bet for this, with the program HPLIP you can do all of that.

I have an HP 6980 with a duplex printing capability. It also has wireless and worked easily.

Samsung-ML-1210 - used for over 3.5 years on Linux with no issues. Check out some of the other Samsung products, mine came with a penguin on the box!
