NVIDIA card, 3d graphics not working

I just installed the driver for my NVIDIA GEForce FX5500 graphics card (which I got from the NVIDIA website). Apart from the fact that the installation messed up X (I'm across that problem) now when I try to run any program with 3d graphics I get the error "Couldn't set video mode: Couldn't find matching GLX visual" Any ideas what is wrong and how to fix?

If your driver is installed and enabled, open Konsole and enter the command below:
      Code:
      sudo nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals --composite
Then, reboot (or restart X -> Ctrl+Alt+Backspace). That should fix your problem.

If not, you may want to try reinstalling the driver with Envy.
