I know there are threads about getting TV-Out to work all over the place but I have been unable to find any that are a similar situation to this so here I go.
I need TV-Out with a X700 Mobility on a laptop. The TV out works however... The only way to have the TV out be the correct resolution or at least not be a "virtual desktop (moves with mouse)" is to reduce the laptop monitor to 1024x768 like the TV. My laptop has a WSXGA screen so it runs at 1680x1050 and reducing it that far and distorting the widescreen is unacceptable.
I have come close to getting it to work but I always either end up with no video on the second monitor or the X server doesn't render things correctly (mouse looks like a distorted square).
So... apart from buying a HDTV that is capable of outputting 1680x1050 is it possible to have the TV output a different resolution then your main display?
