Last week I was on the road with a Dell Latitude D610 notebook, loaded with Windows XP. I decided to try the Kubuntu 7.10 live DVD just to see whether I could get the wireless networking active.
It worked! I was really impressed. I half-expected to get some mysterious error message, and be stuck there because the only Internet access was through the hotel's wireless network. Nope, it worked as advertised, and I didn't have to mess with the WinXP boot volume at all.
As far as I can tell, Kubuntu 7.10 was able to use all the notebook's features. The touchpad and mouse stick worked. I'm not sure about power management, as I was able to plug in most of the time.
