PWMConfig not working to control fans

I set up lm-sensors and get correct temperature and fan readings. Now when I type "pwmconfig" to use fancontrol I get:

/usr/sbin/pwmconfig: There are no pwm-capable sensor modules installed

This error seems common and I wonder if this can be fixed under Gutsy Gibbon?
