Installing Kubuntu on a Shuttle XPC SD31P

Recently I bought a second hand Shuttle XPC SD31P with two SATA HDD of 250 GB each. The installed Windows XP system works fine, but I'd rather like to install Kubuntu.

The Live CD seems to work well but trying to install the system I do not have any HDD to choose from to install the system on. What do I need to do? Are there any drivers to install?

Sounds like you need to use GParted and create some "unallocated space", with appropriate partitions:

Tried that one but it did not work.

A friend told me to check the SATA connections. Apparently Kubuntu needs continously connected drives.
