not working sound control i gutsy

    Hi,
after installation of Kubutnu Gutsy to my Acer Aspire the volume control using keyboard shortcut Fn + arrow up / down did not work. It was just jumping from 0 to 11 % and back. The sound works at all and control using icon in panel works. In Kubuntu Feisty everything workes without any problem.
I downgraded kmilo package (rulling specific lapto keyboard shortcuts) and it became to work. I fixed the package in Synaptics not to be upgraded, but Adept stil tries to upgrade the package.
Well, I need to fix the bug in kmilo package or prevent Adept from upgrading the package. Could You, pleas, help with one of those solutions?
    Thanks.

I too have this exact same problem on my laptop, hadn't thought of downgrading for some reason (I guess I'm just being mentally too stubborn, heh) but here's to hoping someone proffers a solution . . . or an update comes through that fixes it. I'm going to look into it more myself, I'll post back here if I find a solution (it's strange though, KMix still works fine, I wonder what the buttons are actually controlling right now?)

Which Acer Aspire do you have? I purchased one of the Wal-mart specials for $348. I have sound and everything working thanks to the wonderful people over at the ubuntu forum. I had to do some fun things with ALSA to get the sound working. Let me know which ACER you have...

This bug report seems to deal with the problems, although an "official" solution doesn't seem to be necessarily in the works anytime soon considering how long this has gone on: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ls/+bug/118723

Right now I'm going to reboot my laptop (which I'm typing this on) and see if having installed kmilo-legacy fixes anything. If not I'll probably just try the patched kmilo from the bug thread.

Yeah, as have I (now on both my generic-brand laptop and my sister's Acer); odd how no patch has made it into the actual repos. But oh well.
